We just received a message from an owner of a Husky that we were networking for back in August. Some of you may recall beautiful Nikki that went missing in Ronkonkoma and tragically did not make it. We were so saddened to have heard the news.
In honor of her dog Nikki's memory, 13 year old Laney and several of her friends recently went "Caroling for a Cause," lo and behold on behalf of the Lost & Found Pets of Long Island community as a special thanks for helping to spread the word about Nikki when she was lost. The girls raised $113 on a frigid night, and we are so deeply moved by their kindness and thoughtfulness. How adorable! As they want the money to help animals in need, we suggested that the money be used for donations for shelter pets. They chose Babylon Animal Shelter as it is the shelter in our jurisdiction and the shelter that we have had a relationship with for the last (3) years. The staff and volunteers have always reached out to us and networked their stray intake. |
